Leeds held to ransom by most deluded ‘star’ in club’s history.

Share

For fear of getting a reputation of only appearing with posts when the team are playing poorly or that something isn’t going right, I feel I should first explain my recent absence;

After berating the performances of Jonny Howson and Robert Snodgrass in my previous articles, I thought it best to keep a low profile after they have both been leading lights of our current up-turn in form. ‘Our Jonny’ even notched a perfect treble at Scunthorpe, and I know it wasn’t an error on the Sky Sports vidiprinter as I was one of the lucky few to see it with my own eyes… So having had my words shoved firmly down my throat and my posts relating to our quest for survival being the best we can hope for made to look ridiculous against our current 5th place standing. I shall apologise to the pair here. Whilst pointing out that the real reason for my absence is that it is a busy time at work and unfortunately this blog gets pushed to the bottom of the ‘to do’ list .

Now, with that out of the way lets approach one of the craziest stories released by Leeds United’s press officer in recent memory; MIDFIELDER TRANSFER LISTED appeared on NewsNow this afternoon, the initial fear of what, or whom the article could be referring to quickly subsided upon clicking the headline. Thankfully, Robert Snodgrass, Max Gradel and Neil Kilkenny are all staying put and even Andy Hughes will remain at Elland Road… I can hear you thinking, “well who else is there!?!”

It turns out Bradley Johnson has rejected the club’s final offer of a 3 year contract.

Firstly, I’d have to question Simon Grayson’s thinking in offering Johnson another contract, never mind a 3 year deal!  For me, Bradley Johnson will always epitomise the ‘average’ players that have passed through the door at Thorp Arch since our decline to League One. He is by far the most infuriating player I have ever seen play, he obviously has some talent but it is totally undermined by his lack of vision, awareness and terrible decision making. I was hoping he would leave in the Summer on a free, so any sort of transfer fee would be a bonus!

Quite what goes through the head of some players is a mystery. Perhaps his agent has pointed to the amount of games he has started this season and that his wage should reflect that of an important first team member… he has obviously forgotten the game at Boundary Park a couple of years ago when Bradley turned in the worst performance of any professional footballer I have witnessed. Can anybody think of anything Johnson has done this season that would look out of place in an amateur game at your local park? Even his decent finish and steady game against Hull was undone by a comical own goal due to lack of concentration.

Out of the whole squad, I can’t think of a player who I would be less upset or concerned about leaving.

I’m sure he’ll find his rightful place back in League One again before long…

  3. I feel like partying. It's not that I have a particular dislike of Johnson, he's just a really poor football player that has left me on the brink of a heart-attack on more than one occasion.

The only part of that, that is disputable is exactly how much talent? Very little would be my answer. The amount of arguments I've had this year with his defence telling me 'he got us promoted' has pushed me towards the edge!

    Good riddance.

  5. i like his ability to turn in a complete circle because he can't use his right foot

  6. Where is his best position? Left back, left midfield or centre midfield? NO! left on the bench!! It would be nice to get a fee for him but I doubt anyone's got cash to waste!

  7. Agree with the above, who the hell will want to pay good money for him, he'll be a good signing for someone on a free, but we are pissing in the wind if we think someone will bid for him, those crazy days have gone, i think bradley believes his own hype.

  8. "He is by far the most infuriating player I have ever seen play, he obviously has some talent but it is totally undermined .. by his lack of effort, weak tackling though has amazing ability to drift out of games"

Can we get rid of Kilkenny at the same time please

  9. Fickle very fickle.
Brad was only asking for what they promised.
Promotion from Division one to the championship was soundly heard by all party's.With new contracts incoming players were promised a percentage rise in income.
Lets say Leeds United have not gone followed it through.
Watch this space as Mr Becchio will be joining Brad in a few days.
At this present time he is getting sounded out by some decent Premiership clubs.
    Mr Bruce is a clue.
He's been to nearly every leeds home game since his son has arrived.

  10. It will a be relief to get rid of such an poor footballer. I have been convinced all season that he has some thing over grayson perhaps from a promotion party that he is blackmailing Simon with. Why Grayson has picked him so much this year particularly in central midfield a position he wasn't good enough for in league one.

  11. Mr Peters,, if a premiership club signs and plays Mr Johnson this season or next I will piss my pants. Bradley hasn't exactly shone through this season or any other season and should be delighted with any contract extension and wage improvement for regular first team football at Leeds.
    Get real.

  12. Overweight and no talent.
He's not the quality midfielder we need to get out of this league.
He's league one level at best.

  15. im really glad other people also agree johnson is pants, my mates would tell me to get off his back cos he's not that bad. think it was in the hull game when i saw him try to lob the keeper while he was on his line that they finally all admitted he is garbage

  16. Very mediocre player, and i'm pleased he's leaving. Except that he'll probably show up in a Carlisle shirt and score a 30yd screamer to put us out of the cup.....

  17. His best position is LEFT OUTSIDE THE BUS

  18. He is technically one of the worst players I have ever seen play at Elland Road.

We do not know the ins and outs of why he has decided to not sign, however I do not think we would be a million miles away from the truth if we presume it is MONEY!!!

    Good riddance.

  20. I'm afraid very few tears will be shed by Brad J going. The worry for me is that we are losing players because of what we are offering in our contracts !!! I hope this is not the beginning of a trend. I hope this is not Bates being too tight....

  21. Well I'd like to wish him good luck... He's not the greatest player in the world or even at the club but he does run his socks off... sometimes... and for those times I'd like to thank him. Maybe we'll give Nunez a run in his spot..?
